My appreciation of progressive education started during my days as a student at Friends’ Seminary in New York City. I feel so fortunate to work at Bixby and find many similarities between this special school and the one of my childhood. I come from a long line of teachers and “do-gooders.” Intentionally following in their footsteps, I left a career in the music business to pursue my graduate degree in early childhood and special education. I subsequently taught 1st and 2nd grade at the Mary McDowell Friends School in Brooklyn, NY. Outside of school, I built a thriving practice as a reading tutor specializing in the Orton-Gillingham approach. My husband and I have two children, one of whom is a Bixby preschooler. In my free time, you’ll find me having dance parties with my kids, making doughnuts, enjoying the occasional sunrise jog or exploring the local food scene.
