Our Bixby Summer Camp is a play-based camp with weekly themes provided by our amazing community partners. This year’s themes are grouped into these areas: Cultural Explorations, STEM, and Movement.

Preschool Summer Tuition 2018
K-6 Summer Tuition 2018

ELIGIBILITY The Bixby Elementary (K-6) Summer Camp is open to: Children that will be in grades Kindergarten-6th for the 2018-19 school year, regardless of attendance at Bixby.

The Bixby Preschool Summer Camp is open to: All current preschool students. Any new preschool student that will be registering for the 2018-19 school year. We do not accept preschool students for the summer program only; it is too short a time for the age to transition completely.



Camp Hours For K-6: Standard Day 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Extended Day 7:15 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.

Camp Hours For Preschool: Standard Day 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Extended Day 7:15 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.

A typical camp day:

  • 9:00 a.m. – Arrival and initial time to meet with friends and start our day
  • 9:30-lunch – Theme-work in small groups with our community partner (organized by interest area and/or developmental stage/age)
  • LUNCH – Time to enjoy a home-cooked meal together!
  • Afternoon – Swimming (4 days a week), playing, outside/inside and time to make new friends!

Movement Embodied Juggling

May 30, 2017 - June 2, 2017

Join Bixby Alumni Chris Hopper in a week of juggling and movement specially designed to help develop gross and fine motor skills and executive functioning. This week will be full of fun and laughs.

STEM – Water Protectors UNITE!

June 5, 2017 - June 9, 2017

Come explore Earth's most precious resource. In this epic adventure, campers will investigate a mystery that has dripped its way over to Bixby School. Come and splash your way into a week full of water games, experiments, and local habitat conservation. Our favorite outdoor education community partner, the Kiva Center will be our special guest.

Culture – Brazilian Carnival

June 12, 2017 - June 16, 2017

Come learn Samba and Afro Brazilian dance with a famous dancer and instructor named Kebrina Josefina De Jesus. She is the founder of Samba Colorado. Performance on Friday at 2:45pm.

Movement – Parkour @ Bixby

June 19, 2017 - June 23, 2017

Back by popular demand! Join local Parkour expert Chris Hopper to jump, swing, and roll through the Bixby grounds. Special attention will be placed on body control and awareness.

STEM – Lego Design and Build

June 26, 2017 - June 30, 2017

Madeline Ruiz from LIttle Master Builders will lead the campers on a week of exploration in engineering and architecture using LEGOs to build bridges, buildings, and whatever else they can dream up! Find out more about Little Master Builders on their Facebook page.

Culture – Familientreffen

July 3, 2017 - July 7, 2017

Familientreffen is family gathering in German Come join the Bixby family to celebrate our guest visitor from Germany. Leyla Do will intern with us and share all about German culture. Come play games, dance, eat food, and do crafts like a German. Closed on Tuesday, July 4th.

Movement – Acrobats & Jugglers

July 10, 2017 - July 14, 2017

Local artist Jasmine Saraswati will host acrobatic and aerial training throughout the week culminating with a Friday showcase. This is one of the most popular weeks of the summer! Jasmine Saraswati joins us all week and hosts a performance at 2:45 on Friday.

STEM – Rockets to the Stars

July 17, 2017 - July 21, 2017

blast off to the stars with us. The 3rd grade and up campers will design, build, and launch their own rockets. The younger campers will explore basic rocketry. Everyone will explore the stars and limits of our imagination. Guest teacher: Piett Gerady, past Bixby science teacher and current CU Science Discovery teacher.

Culture – Ghanaian Drum and Dance

July 24, 2017 - July 28, 2017

Back by popular demand! World famous drum and dance artists Nil and Yesutor will join us this week to teach about Ghanaian culture through drumming and dancing. Special guest Nil Okai Aryeetey and Yesutor Kotoka from Ghana are world famous for their art. Performance on Friday at 2:45pm.

Movement – Animal Spirit Yoga

July 31, 2017 - August 4, 2017

Discover your inner animal and bring it to life as you explore the many forms that live within you. Through breath work and focused movement, we find the inner strength that guides us to be as still as the stalking cougar, jump as high as a red kangaroo and slither like a snake. Kasey Schelling, an experienced yoga practitioner, will lead us to a deeper self-awareness.

STEM – Robotics and Intro Design

August 14, 2017 - August 17, 2017

Special guest teacher from Play Well. K-2: Build engineer-designed projects such as Boats, Snowmobiles, Catapults, and Merry-Go-Rounds. Then use special pieces to create your own unique design. Grades 3+: Build and program robots using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 System! Learn about mechanical and software design, loops, conditional statements, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Avid 4 Adventure is offering camp this week at Bixby. Sign up for Avid through THEIR website. It's an independent camp.

Culture – Taiko Drumming (Japan)

August 21, 2017 - August 25, 2017

Join the internationally acclaimed Taiko drummers from One World Taiko to feel the universal rhythm that beats through all beings. This week will explore the many facets of Japanese culture through food, games, dance, and daily drumming classes. This is a rare opportunity in Boulder, especially for KIDS! Don't miss out on this extraordinary opportunity! The founders of One World Taiko will teach about the significance and meaning of Taiko drumming in Japanese culture. Performance on Friday at 2:45pm.
