An Open Letter to Alumni, Parents, and Friends of Bixby
Dear Members of the Bixby School Community,
The Bixby 40th Anniversary was marked by a joyous celebration, lively entertainment, and a trip down memory lane! We are so grateful for the wonderful contributions from all the students, teachers, staff, parents, alumni and friends who made this event so special. On Friday afternoon, under the “Big Top Tent,” our current students were treated to a special dance and musical games, before sharing birthday cake and a colorful balloon drop. On Saturday afternoon, three separate alumni bands played live music. The tent was filled with good cheer to go along with the festive and enthusiastic crowd. There were around four hundred people in attendance! Our sincere thanks go out to all the volunteers who worked so tirelessly to organize and plan these parties. As a school community, we passed a symbolic and remarkable milestone, and now we turn our attention toward the years and anniversaries ahead.
The Board of Trustees and the Directors take the responsibility of leadership at Bixby School as both a commitment and a privilege. While we focus our energy on making the school a successful place to learn and teach today, we are mindful of the previous teachers, parents, and students who helped guide us along the way, and we rely on this community to share our commitment to the school’s mission and core beliefs. Simultaneously, we acknowledge the necessity of planning for the future, striving for continued excellence in our programs while monitoring the facilities that create a dynamic learning environment. We want future alumni to return and share their fond memories!
As part of the 40th Anniversary, we announced an important fundraising initiative designed to build the Bixby Future Fund, an endowment established for the benefit of the school. We set a target of $40,000 as acknowledgement of our milestone. Several contributors pledged support immediately, and we are extremely appreciative of their willingness to donate upfront. To date, we have had $20,000 pledged as “challenge funds” for this campaign. All monies contributed at the celebration were matched! What this means to you is that for every dollar you contribute now, your gift also will be doubled.
The Bixby Future Fund is an agency endowment housed at The Community Foundation of Boulder County. Bixby School has the flexibility to use the income from the fund to address the most needed areas of the budget. The Foundation provides oversight, consolidates investment management, and takes sole fiduciary responsibility. In other words, it acts as a steward and is charged to develop and grow the fund on behalf of Bixby. We are excited about this partnership and hope you will share in our enthusiasm for this endeavor. We welcome any questions you may have about it.
Bixby has now celebrated forty years as one of Boulder’s finest independent schools! For the generations who will follow in our footsteps, The Bixby Future Fund represents our commitment to them. Please help us secure Bixby School’s legacy, and take advantage of the generosity others have already demonstrated by contributing today.
Sincerely,
Pat Baker/Executive Director
Blake Catlin/President, Board of Trustees
