I’ve always had a passion for music, from my first time listening to “Hello, Dolly!” through a childhood of singing with the Boulder Youth Chorale and school choirs, and playing flute in woodwind ensemble and orchestra, until today. I studied voice in university and also enjoy playing piano, flute, guitar, ukulele, and whatever instruments I can get my hands on! I taught private music lessons during and after university while recording two albums of original music, performing musical theater, and singing whenever I could. When I’m not doing something related to music, I love learning languages, reading, aerial lyra, and singing to my pet bird.
I’ve studied and performed all over the world, but when I moved to Japan I realized how much I loved teaching children as well. I taught English for seven years followed by three years as a music teacher for an English-immersion school program before returning home to Boulder. From students who loved singing blossoming into season performers to non-artistic ones realizing they were great at music theory or directing, every day I learned more from the kids than they realized. The most important part of education is sharing what you know with others, and I am delighted to share my knowledge and love of music with the students at Bixby while they teach me about the many things they’ve learned!
