Our first heritage potluck since pre-COVID! The joy and beauty of the evening felt to me like a warm blanket of community. Coming together to share foods and traditions of the individual cultures, histories, and heritages of our community is an important part of nurturing a caring environment where everyone feels valued. Some of our core beliefs as a school are that “Children learn best in a safe environment: physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Respect is the cornerstone of such an environment: respect among students, between students and teachers, and among all members of our community including parents and staff.”
Events like our heritage potluck night are an important part of our efforts to create a community where students and families feel welcomed, invited, and encouraged every day to bring their individual identities and their rich family histories forward into the Bixby community. I am so grateful to be part of this rich and beautifully diverse community.
