Middle School Transition Event

October 23, 2019 @ 5:45 pm - 7:00 pm

So that we can plan appropriately for the evening, please complete this brief form if you plan on attending. An overview of the evening is below.

This evening is a Bixby tradition for our 5th grade students and their families. However, because we know that some of our 4th grade families have begun to look ahead to this transition, we would like to welcome 4th grade parents to also attend. However, in order to honor the importance of this time for our 5th grade students, student participation is limited to our 5th graders only.

This is a unique opportunity for our families to gain an understanding of the transition from Bixby primarily from Bixby alumni.  For students it is a chance to ask some of their burning questions, as well as hear through the voices of their peers some tips and ideas to make the move less of a “mystery”. For parents, we will provide an overview of the public school choice process as well as information about advocating for your child if they have any specific learning differences.

We will have pizza, salad and beverages available for attendees.

In addition to this evening, we will distribute shortly a table with details regarding upcoming open house/information events at BVSD and local independent middle schools.

The evening is designed to provide a general overview and introduction to the process. However, for our 5th grade families, we are also happy to set up a separate meeting to discuss your individual child’s transition in more detail.
