What kids get excited over vegetables?? Bixby kids, of course. They are more willing to eat them after being part of planting, and watering around the school. One of the favorite jobs is harvesting and delivering the bounty to the kitchen. This year’s garlic, summer squash, tomatoes and cucumbers are finding their way into our nutritious and tasty lunches. Chef Amber has been serving Bixby veggies in everything from her pesto to this week’s seasonal vegetable strata. We can’t wait to see what she’s going to do with our upcoming carrot crop!

Vegetable and other food scraps from the kitchen are added to our large compost pile, which will be used to amend our soil for next spring’s crops.

Our Bixby community continues to grow in so many different ways!
