Students learn from people they love”, the title of this Opinion Column in last Friday’s New York Times describes well what a Bixby education is all about – fostering meaningful and positive relationships for students with adults, peers and – most importantly – with their own passions. At the center of what makes Bixby “special” is a focus upon the process of learning, helping students build the habits and qualities that form a strong foundation to explore and learn throughout life, not just 5th grade. This process takes persistence and patience. However,  we know from our almost 50 years of alumni that this foundation is powerful and effective. Teaching and learning at Bixby takes patience but it is well worth waiting for!
